Your kids will not be able to relate to 3G internet speeds. Same as these kids don’t know about dialing into AOL and the screetching and scratching and crawling around the web. These kids are going to be connected high speed everywhere..
So, What is Wimax?

Here’s a good definition of Wimax from www.WiMax.com:
WiMAX is a wireless digital communications system, also known as IEEE 802.16, that is intended for wireless “metropolitan area networks”. WiMAX can provide broadband wireless access (BWA) up to 30 miles (50 km) for fixed stations, and 3 – 10 miles (5 – 15 km) for mobile stations. In contrast, the WiFi/802.11 wireless local area network standard is limited in most cases to only 100 – 300 feet (30 – 100m).

And 4G according to an article on www.Answers.com
- 4G is the short term for fourth-generation wireless, the stage of broadband mobile communications that will supercede the third generation (3G). While neither standards bodies nor carriers have concretely defined or agreed upon what exactly 4G will be, it is expected that end-to-end IP and high-quality streaming video will be among 4G’s distinguishing features. Fourth generation networks are likely to use a combination of WiMAX and WiFi.

What’s that all mean to me? You be the judge, for me it means that islands/countries are going 4G and I may be choosing the country/city/town I live in depending on wheather they are “ON” or not.
